X-Shorts

Has anyone used X-Shorts with a shorty? I couldn't tell how long they are in the photo..

I don't really like using the pockets on my escape.. hard to get into and not a whole lot of room for stuff anyway plus it's hard to organize stuff once it's in the pocket. I'll unzip one to get my slate and something else will start floating out with it.

Thought about adding some pockets on but I think it will make the BC feel a little "cramped".. so instead I'm thinking about picking up some X-shorts. I used one of those thigh pockets you velcro around your leg and hang off the BC but it got pretty annoying.. would come loose.. etc. Overall I liked having pockets on my leg more than the BC pockets though.

I'm sure the X-shorts would work just fine, dont see that it matters if they are longer than the shortie or not.

Well I didn't know if the bottom edges were going to be annoying/irritable or not.. I see now though that it looks like they're all neoprene?

Yes. You could wear them quite happily with just a t-shirt.

I like my X-shorts. My only complaint is that the pockets dont stand up to abuse. It is too easy to pull the pocket off the shorts if you are careless.

I might give that a try as I was plenty warm in my shorty last november.. I don't like the feeling of a wet t-shirt though.. might try a rash gaurd or just the shorts and my BC!

Do you have the old, original X-Shorts or the new ones? Supposedly they've made them considerably more sturdy.

Another option is simply to reinforce the stitching on the original ones.

They are indeed soft and comfortable, however, and can easily be worn against the skin.

Thumbs up

The new X-Shorts are very tough--- no pocket problems as were reported on the org....I have a pair and just love them.....worn with shorty thru dry suit.
