Have done tiling and have never heard of or used a decoupling membrane. I have a feeling the tiles won't crack, the grout will though and tiles could pop up.

I agree it's technically deep but a cheat for "deep diver" but not necessarily AOW. Are you limited to 63' based on the body of water chosen for the class? I would try and convince the instructor...

I don't feel an ounce of claustrophobia on land but underwater wrecks give it to me a bit. It may be a good thing because I feel the fear and extra shot of adrenaline seems to highten my senses.
